The book gives me an impression that as long anyone, who claim faith in Jesus, have a firm understanding on what Christ has done in their lives, they will receive breakthroughs in their walk with Christ and/or be freed from demonic exercises resulting in unhealthy thoughts/behaviors.It troubles me by imaginining having his idea put into practice by anyone who needs medical assistance in the area of mental health, or behavioural therapy for those with neurodevelopmental disorders (ie. autism).Assuming this book is targetted at the believing community without mental health issues nor neurodevelopmental disorders,I agree that a right perception of a Christ follower's in regards to his/her indentity in Christ may be helpful for spiritual growth.I disagree that a "right" thinking saves people from darkness. This idea appears to me to have undermined the work of Christ on the cross on all aspsects of life. It does seem to me that the book suggests a believer's change in thinking to be victorious..... (NOTE: I will read the second book "The Bondage Breaker" to gain a better perspective on where the author is coming from.)Having said that, I would suggest mature believers to have a look at this book. There are some very good suggestions or reminders on who Christians truly are (identity in Christ).But, I would refrain from recommending this to new believers, for its almost unhealthy obsession with demonic activities instead of emphasising the weight of the Gospel.
For years I have searched for answers and understanding through numerous Christian books. More knowledge but little fruit in my life and I never understood why. This book has blown me away. Every chapter brought clarity and understanding to who I am in Christ and has equipped me to actually grow in my faith. I have been a believer for many years but it turns out, I've had a rather faulty belief system and this book, through his explanation of many, many scripture references, has opened a whole new view of who God is and who I am. For the first time, I do not feel like I need to find another book but I am excited to LIVE for Christ. If there is one book needed for your Christian faith-in addition to the bible-this is the book. I cannot give this book enough praise for its impact.

My life is truly changed. I cannot say enough good things about it. Everyone who considered themselves a Christian should read it!Each chapter seems to be filled with these ideas and truths that most Christians seem to be unaware of, It is really an amazing book and worth the read. I was a little hesitant at first and had trouble getting into it, but by Chapter 2 - I was hooked! Excellent read!
Excellent Book! I have been in a season of fear and worry after being a Christian for 7 years, and Victory Over Darkness was recommended by so many other fellow believers to help me figure out what is going on. This book is like a counseling-type read: sometimes it was painful to read as God opened my eyes to areas of my life that are not in line with His will, but afterward I always had so much healing occur. Also, Anderson gives many practical tools to use for every day life as we struggle through stuff in this broken world. I wish I would have read this when I first became a Christian! Also, Bondage Breaker is the second book to read after this and I just began reading this one--I know it will have a huge impact just like this book has had.Just an FYI: the first few chapters are dense, but so necessary to read. After those chapters, the writing is much more engaging and "easy" to read.
When I started reading this book I would estimate I would have to battle anxiety and fear at least one a week. My biggest fear was the fear of the unknown. Dr Anderson helped point out the obvious. That we are loved by a gracious good God. By His grace, I have become content with who I am in Him at the moment. And trusting Him for what He has planned for me.
